Het geslacht Best beginnend bij Jan Dircksz Best gedoopt op 29 augustus 1667 in de Buurtjes kerk in Andijk. Hij was de eerste die de achternaam Best gebruikte bij zijn huwelijk in 1695 met Aaf Jacobs in Andijk. Dit in tegenstelling tot zijn broers Pieter (Moer) en Nanne (Tromp).
